Where i went and double gold cap proof

Surprise, ha.

I decided it was a bout time I gave a bit of an explanation to you guys, why did I stop posting? Well it was a combination of too little time and fading interest.

I will start with the lack of time first, too busy with the pvp guild that I made, struggling to make that work organising 2-3 sets of rated battlegrounds each night ends up taking its toll. This coupled with my work schedule getting a bit busier and the fact that I was starting to try get a bit healthier and lose some weight.

The Second Factor was that to be quite honest I was getting very bored of wow. I had completed so much done so much dungeons and raids that I could not do any more with out being bored out of my mind, the same was starting to happen with pvp and gold making. This left me just logging on to talk to people which to me didn’t justify paying for the subscription. Eventually when my game time ran out, I just decided not to get any more.

What in the world did I do with out WOW you say? Well, I have been just getting more exercise and time to go out with friends etc. I still managing to play a couple video games like Minecraft, Counter Strike 1.6 and Crysis 2 to get my fill. But at the same time I do kind of miss WOW, that’s why I have decided to just detail the last of my gold making efforts in the rest of this post.

Double Gold Cap

Twice the gold cap screenshot

Well here it is, the Proof that I managed to hit the 2 million mark before stopping. I actually ended up with around 2.3 million but I spend 300k on an Amani Dragonhawk that I don’t have a screenshot of and cannot due to no game time, let me know if there is a way to check via armory.

Ever since I made that massive stockpile all I had to do was slowly sell it to accumulate all of my gold.
I will probably make a couple more posts on this site in regards to Warcraft as I havn’t lost complete interest and all of the Mist of Pandaria info might eventually drag me back in. I don’t know just yet.

Anyway, thanks for listening. Felt good to get that little bit of my chest.

My patch 4.2 recap

Well patch 4.2 has been quite good to me, I had a few 100k sales days and in total I’m back up to 1324672 gold. I still fell like I have quite a bit of my stockpile to sell as well, This post is just going to go over my main money makers since the patch hit

1.3+ million

Whats been selling

Gems

Gem sales have been though the roof since the patch hit and and I have made about 150k in gem sales, I’m even starting to run low on my Ember Topaz and Demonseye. Suprisingly I have been selling quite a few Dream Emeralds for a lot more that usual at 50g+, sometimes even as high as 150g [lightening cut]

Help one of my readers with a survery

Well I have recently had an email from one of my readers asking to give him a shout out for a survey he is currently doing.

“I am currently completing high school. For one of my subjects I have to complete a major research project worth 40% of my final marks. The hypothesis for my project is that “adolescent males are partaking in pseudo–rites of passage involving role-playing games as compensation for a lack of definitive rites of passage within Western Culture.” For this research project I am conducting a survey as part of my primary research. This survey is set up on survey monkey which you can find here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JJ9ZWC8

If you have a few minutes, he would very much appreciate it if you could fill it out, I just did it and it didnt take up that much time at all, 5 min at most.

There is also a link above this post to the left, if you missed out yesterdays post.

ps. this just in I sold my big battle bear for 100000g, thats 40k profit!

Star Wood & Enchanting Vellum

Just a quick tip today about Star Wood and Enchanting Vellum, both are easily bought from a vendor but I still get sales frequently. To get either of these items take a quick trip to your local Enchanting supplies vendor.

Enchanting Vellum

Enchanting vellum is needed to apply your enchants on for sale via the auction house or to send to an enchant to your other characters. Back in the day the only way to get this was with Inscription so it was mainly purchased on the auction house and some people still think this is this case, but in fact it only costs 10 silver each at your enchanting supplies vendor. I find buying enchanting vellum and selling them in stacks of 1,5,10 and 20 to work wonders, covers all your bases. Some people just cant be bothered to move from the auction house and will purchase the 1 or 2 they need, but others who don’t know that vellum is sold from a vendor will purchase it in large quantities. I have had success selling 20 stacks for between 5-10g

Star Wood

Star Wood is a regent used for only 2 reasons, to craft low level wands with enchanting to raise your skill level but mainly as a regent for Flying Machine. The Flying machine requires 8 Star Wood in total and engineers are less likely to know where to obtain this from (unless they have an enchanter). They will usually check the auction house and if it doesn’t cost ludicrous amounts they will buy it. Star Wood only costs 45 silver (36 silver if you are exhalted with which ever faction you purchase it from) and I sell these frequently at 10g each.

Conclusion and free gold

Neither of these tips will make you rich, but every little helps and if your struggling for a bit of gold I think this is one of the easier ways to acquire gold. I have actually gained just under 5000g on tarren mill – EU – horde just buying these 2 items from enchanting supplies and selling them on the auction house , if any one wants it I would be happy to give them it, 4706 gold to be precise. The character I used to do this is a level 11 goblin warlock which i leveled to see the goblin starter zone.

Do you have any similar items that are easy buys to flip on the same faction?

Have you had any success with these items?

Abyss Crystal for profit

I happened to find a stash of around 800 Abyss Crystals in one of my guild banks, which made me question myself, what should I do with all of these? How will I use these Abyss crystals for profit? Well, I decided to do a little experiment to see how much I would profit from Abyssal Shattering them into Infinite dust and Greater cosmic essence, and what better place to document it than here.

Abyss Crystal

The Abyssal Shatter Test

I Decided to shatter 3 sets of 100 abyss crystals, This would let me work out the average mats gained per Abyss Crystal. Please note that when an Abyss Crystal is Shattered it will only give either Greater Cosmic Essence or Infinite Dust, I never received both of them in the same shatter.

Round 1

100 Abyss Crystals turned into
166 Greater Cosmic Essence
462 Infinite Dust

Total of 1.66 Greater Cosmic Essence & 4.62 Infinite dust per Abyss Crystal Shatter
The lowest amount of Infinite Dust per shatter = 7 Highest = 17
The lowest amount of Greater Cosmic Essence = 2 Highest = 6

Round 2

100 Abyss Crystals turned into
202 Greater Cosmic Essence
372 Infinite Dust

Total of 2.02 Greater Cosmic Essence & 3.72 Infinite dust per Abyss Crystal Shatter
The lowest amount of Infinite Dust per shatter = 7 Highest = 18
The lowest amount of Greater Cosmic Essence = 2 Highest = 6

Round 3

100 Abyss Crystals turned into
172 Greater Cosmic Essence
493 Infinite Dust

Total of 1.72 Greater Cosmic Essence & 4.93 Infinite Dust per Abyss Crystal Shatter
The lowest amount of Infinite Dust per shatter = 7 Highest = 17
The lowest amount of Greater Cosmic Essence = 2 Highest = 6

Average Materials per Abyssal Shatter

!WARNING! Prepare for limited Math skills

1 Abyss Crystal =((1.72+2.02+1.66)/3) +((4.93+3.72+4.62)/3)

1 Abyss Crystal = 1.8 Greater Cosmic Essence and 4.32333 Infinite Dust per Abyssal Shatter

1 Abyss Crystal is currently 30 gold on my auction house, Greater Cosmic Essence are currently 13g and Infinite Dust are 8g

30 >?< (1.8 x 13)+(4.32333 x 8 )

30 >?< 23g40s + 34g58s66c = 57g98s66c

30g Abyss Crystal goes in, 57g in enchant materials come out and that’s what we call the Abyssal Shatter. Its pretty nice to know that by just shattering the Abyss Crystal, I would get almost 100% profit.

1 Abyss Crystal shattered will give you just under 2 Greater Cosmic Essence and just over 4 Infinite Dust

Wotlk Enchanting still viable?

Well I’m stuck with 540 Greater Cosmic Essence and 1327 Infinite dust,  Still have over 500 Abyss Crystals and around 300 dreamshards, I think i’ll give Wotlk Enchanting another go, After all it was a pretty lucrative market back then, and I have noticed quite a community of level 70 & 80 twinks which will I’m sure will buy some of the enchants, But I will leave that adventure for another day and another post.

Questions

Is Abyssal Shatter profitable on your realm and are you doing it?
Are you having any success in the Wotlk enchant market?
Is my math terrible ?
Will there be a Maelstrom Shatter ?

Final Preparations for Patch 4.2 Firelands

With the news that  PvP Season 9 is Ending Soon we can be pretty sure that patch 4.2 will be implemented when the season ends or the week after when season 10 begins. With only 2-3 weeks until the Firelands 4.2 patch is here, it is time for me to make a note of what must be done before the patch arrives on our realms.

Firelands Dailies

With 3 vendors rewarding some of the recipes for new items listed in my 4 ways to make gold in patch 4.2 post, I need to make sure my correct characters will be able to do the dailies in the new quest hub in hyjal. Unfortunately for me I will need to do the dailies of 4 different characters of mine to gain access to the following

Barbaric my warrior and Blacksmith will have to do complete the dailies for the Blacksmithing plans

Plans: Brainsplinter 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Elementium-Edged Scalper 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Lightforged Elementium Hammer 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Masterwork Elementium Deathblade 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Masterwork Elementium Spellblade 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Pyrium Spellward 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Unbreakable Guardian 300g Blacksmithing (525)
Plans: Witch-Hunter’s Harvester 300g Blacksmithing (525)

Nicolasmage my mage [duh] and Engineer will have to do the dailies for the Engineering Schematics

Schematic: Extreme-Impact Hole Puncher 300g Engineering (525)
Schematic: Flintlocke’s Woodchucker 300g Engineering (515)

Varah my Deathknight and Leatherworker will have to do the dailies for the Leatherworking patterns

Pattern: Royal Scribe’s Satchel 300g Leatherworking (510)
Pattern: Triple-Reinforced Mining Bag 300g Leatherworking (500)

Anaalius [me] will have to do the dailies for the Tailoring pattern

Pattern: Luxurious Silk Gem Bag 300g Tailoring (515)

Patch 4.2 – Firelands Dailies / Mark of the World Tree Rewards

Basically I need to make sure my 4 characters have quested all through hyjal so I will be able to start the new dailies straight away, With out missing a day I will complete them all so I can access the new vendors when I have 125 Mark of the World Tree’s. This will hopefully give me access to all the new items as soon as possible while demand is higher and competition is low.

Additional Stockpiling

I still feel like I need a few more materials, here is a quick list so I wont forget [and you can remind me if I miss anything out]

Heavy Savage Leather
Pristine Leather Hide
Bolt of Embersilk Cloth
Maelstrom Crystals
Greater Celestial Essence
Heavenly Shards
Elementium Bar
Pyrite Bar
True Gold

You can see my current stockpile here

PVP sales increase

With season 10 starting in 3 weeks, I’m going to make sure I have plenty of pvp related item enhancements ready as well, especially loads of resilience gems as well as a few spell penetration gems.Plenty of Spell-threads and leg armours.

Have I missed anything out that I should also be preparing for ?
Are you preparing or do you happen to be ready now ?

Make Gold with Engineering Pets

This post is about making gold with Engineering pets, 7 different craft-able Engineering pets. They have a slightly high barrier to entry as most of them are relatively hard to obtain. With the new 100 and 125 pet achievements more people will be interested in buying those mid price range pets which engineering has to offer, you can craft them pretty cheaply if your buying materials are the right time.

How to obtain engineering pet recipes

Learnt from profession trainer

2 of the engineering pets are learnt from the engineering trainers, the problem is that you can craft which ever is available to your engineering specialization, De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion [Gnomish Engineering] and Personal World Destroyer [Goblin Engineering].

Learnt from Schematic

Gnomeregan
2 of the Schematics for engineering pets are dropped in Gnomeregan
The schematic for
Lil’ Smoky drops from Peacekeeper Security Suit, Arcane Nullifier X-21 and Crowd Pummeler 9-60, It has a drop rate of 1-5% so might take a couple runs to get. The schematic for Pet Bombling drops exclusively from Mekgineer Thermaplugg [last boss in Gnomeregan] and has a pretty high drop rate with most engineers getting it 1st time, if your really unlucky it could take a few runs.

World Drop
2 of the schematics for engineering pets are very rare world drops.
The Schematic for Mechanical Squirrel Box and Lifelike Mechanical Toad are both very rare world drops which your going to have more luck getting from the auction house if they show up, I would probably be willing to pay near 10k for each of them [depending on competition of the crafted pet] on your realm.

Learnt from quest reward

The last schematic is a quest rewards from a small chain quest in Winterspring starting from Umi Rumplesnicker in Everlook.
It is a pretty easy quest chain and once completed she should offer to teach you how to craft a Tranquil Mechanical Yeti

Materials to snatch

Heart of Fire, Globe of Water, Living Essence , Core of Earth, these materials will probably be scarce on your auction house and I advise you buy them while they are cheap in advanced, rather than just buy them when you want to craft when they could be more expensive. Hover over the pet link to see full list of what is needed via wowhead’s tool tips.

Gold Tip

For a small fee[150g] you can drop your current Engineering specialization to learn the other by going to Tanaris and reading a book called “Soothsaying for dummies” in Tanaris, in the hut next to Narain Soothfancy. You can then learn the the other specialization. This is great because you can mass craft De-Weaponized Mechanical Companion and then switch specializations to mass craft Personal World Destroyer for more selling power.

I think that these will be selling quite a bit when the patch 4.2 hits and people read the patch notes about the 100, 125 and 150 pet achievements.
Best of luck engineers, now you go profit when 4.2 roles in.

My stockpile for patch 4.2

Well I haven’t been doing that much lately to make gold, in fact I have been spending quite a lot, not on any luxury items but I have been investing quite a lot of gold, so much that I have gone down from 1.3 million to just be hovering around the 1 million mark.

Stockpiling

I have been stockpiling trade goods in preparation for patch 4.2, with the various new items coming I intend to make a profit by preparing.
Here are some screenshots of some of my current stockpiled materials [to give you an idea of what I think is worth Stockpiling]

Pro tip – Click images and it will expand

Amberjewel – 335 Demons Eye – 188 Dream Emerald – 464 Ember Topaz – 123
Inferno Ruby – 228 Ocean Sapphire – 350 Blackfallow Ink – 4977 Inferno Ink – 998
Enchanting mats Hypnotic Dust – 1024 Heavenly Shard – 108 Maelstrom Crystals – 93
Bolt of Embersilk – 1758 Black Dragonscale 1940 Truegold – 77 Volatile Life – 18372
Volatile Air – 3273 Volatile Earth – 2512 Volatile Fire – 3997 Volatile Water – 4127

I have just been buying these materials when they are cheaper than they normally are, I’m not at the stage of buying normal priced goods which I anticipate to rise dramatically but ill save that for another post.

Estimated Stockpile Worth

I thought it would be a good idea to see how much gold I would gain if I were to liquidate these items now at a normal market price

Volatile Air – 3273 x 20g = 65460g
Volatile Earth – 2512 x 6g = 15072g
Volatile Fire – 3997 x 14g = 55958g
Volatile Water – 4127 x 15g = 61905g
Volatile Life – 18372 x 5g = 91875g
Truegold – 77 x 600g = 46200g
Black Dragonscale 1940 x 16g = 31040
Bolt of Embersilk – 1758 x 15g = 26370g
Hypnotic Dust – 1024 x 5g = 5120g
Heavenly Shard – 108 x 50g = 5400
Maelstrom Crystals – 93 x 200g = 18600g
Blackfallow Ink – 4977 x 9g = 44793g
Inferno Ink – 998 x 35g = 34930g
Inferno Ruby – 228 x 50g = 11400g
Ocean Sapphire – 350 x 7g = 2450g
Ember Topaz – 123 x 30g = 3690g
Dream Emerald – 464 x 5g = 2320g
Demons Eye – 188 x 25g =  4700g
Amberjewel – 335 x 8g = 2680g

Grand total of 529963g

Its pretty nice to realise that while I have been stockpiling and loosing liquid gold that I still should be profiting if everything goes according to plan, Always nice to have a little bit of self reassurance

Big Battle Bear

I also have bought another TCG mount while I have been on my spending phase, the  Big Battle Bear. I payed 60k gold for this and It is a mount I already Have on my main. This means I will not give in trying to sell it for profit, I am looking to make at least 30k profit from this and I expect it may take a while to sell.

What have I been doing?

I have mainly been PVPing on quite a few of my characters and also Leveling a few stragglers, I’m five levels away from my 9Th 85 and then ill get to work on my last character who is currently level 71.

Making gold by finding rare mobs in northrend

Today I decided that I would go hunt a few of the rare mobs in northrend for the Frostbitten achievement and I noticed that I got a surprising amount of gold. While gold wasn’t the main focus for me at the time, it did bring in a fair amount while i got to enjoy the scenery for a while. Always nice to step away from the auction house and enjoy the world design for a while. A full circuit of northrend took just less than an hour.

Addons

The best way to find these rares in northrend is with 2 addons
_NPCScan – an addon which alerts you when you are near a rare mob, targets it for you as well so you can see where it is on your mini map.
_NPCScan.overlay – the awesome addition for NPCScan which Places a overlay on your map and mini-map detailing the where abouts certain rare mobs can be found.
